Real homes only
No staged photoshoots. Every room you see is somewhere we (or a reader) actually live.
Three writers. Hundreds of room makeovers tested in real homes. One promise — every project we publish is something we'd actually do ourselves.
Our story
HomeBliss started in 2020 in a rented one-bedroom apartment with a landlord who said no to painting and a budget that said no to almost everything else. Most decor sites I read assumed a designer's budget and a contractor on speed dial. I needed something different — practical, warm, honest, and tested in a real life with kids, a dog, and one free weekend a month.
So I started writing the guide I wished I'd had. Slowly, a few of you found it. Then a few thousand. Then a small editorial team of fellow homemakers, DIYers, and former design-shop nerds joined to help cover more rooms, more budgets, and more styles than I ever could alone.
We still test every project in our own homes before we publish it. We still answer reader emails personally. And the homepage still loads fast. Some things matter.

2020
The year a Pinterest board accidentally turned into a magazine.
What we believe
The things that decide what gets published — and what gets thrown out.
Real homes only
No staged photoshoots. Every room you see is somewhere we (or a reader) actually live.
Tested before published
We don't write a tutorial until we've finished the project ourselves — on time and on budget.
Budget-aware always
Every guide flags the cheap version, the mid version, and the splurge — so you choose.
Free to read, forever
No paywall, no popups blocking the recipe. The site stays free because of one weekly newsletter ad.
Meet the team
Each guide on the site is written and signed by one of us. No ghostwriters, no AI fluff.
FounderFounder & Editor in Chief
Emma is the founder and editor in chief of HomeBliss. Before starting the magazine she spent twelve years working as an in-home stylist for first-time buyers, renters, and weekend renovators across the UK and US. She believes the best decorating advice is honest, repeatable, and tested in a real home with a real budget — preferably one with a curious dog underfoot.
EditorBedroom & Bath Editor
Maya leads our bedroom and bathroom coverage at HomeBliss. A former boutique-hotel design consultant, she now writes about how to make small, soft, restful rooms at home without spending hotel money. She lives in a 720-square-foot London flat she shares with her partner and far too many candles.
EditorDIY Projects Editor
Jordan runs the DIY desk at HomeBliss. A self-taught woodworker and longtime renter, he's spent the last decade figuring out which projects are actually worth doing and which ones cost more than just buying the thing. He writes tutorials the way he wishes someone had written them for him at twenty-three.
How a guide is made
01
Research
We read every Pinterest board, Reddit thread, and back-issue magazine we can find on the topic.
02
Plan
Editor outlines the angle, the budget tiers, and the photo brief before a single word is written.
03
Test
We do the project ourselves — at least once — and rewrite anything that didn't actually work.
04
Write
Long-form, friendly, mistakes included. We trust you to handle the truth about what's hard.
05
Update
Every guide is reviewed at least once a year. If prices change, we change the article.
Our promise to you
We say "no" to product placements, sponsored reviews, and pay-to-play roundups. If we recommend something, it's because we bought it, used it, and liked it.
Questions, story pitches, or a room you'd like us to feature? We read every single email.
